About Leadership Conference

Registration includes a morning session, presentation from a keynote speaker and a boxed lunch from Chick-Fil-A.

The conference will begin with check-in at 8:30, a welcome and overview at 9:00, and the first session at 9:15. Each session will last one hour, and there will be a 15-minute break between each session and also before lunch. The conference will conclude at approximately 1:00.

This year’s keynote speaker is Patricia Barnes, known to many of us as Sister Schubert. Patricia Barnes began baking when she was just a little girl, standing at her grandmother Gommey’s side to help make the rolls that we still enjoy today. “She taught me how to bake,” says Sister, “but she also taught me to appreciate the time spent with others while baking.”

Breakout session speakers

Dr. Gary Fenton, Senior Advancement Officer at Samford University

Title  ” Leading Others to Transform Anger into Positive and Constructive Energy

Anger has become a prominent emotion in our culture and it can destroy an organization, but you don’t have to allow anger to ruin  your organization. During this seminar we will look at some practical ways leaders can transform anger into healthy purpose inspired passion.

Don Stuckey, Leadership Consultant-Servant Leadership

Learn both the importance of Servant Leadership and suggestions on how to be a servant leader.

Vic Modic, Executive Vice President/Assistant General Manager for Amerex Corporation“Roadmap to Great Leadership!”

There are a lot of books, Ted Talks, etc., on what makes a great leader. We’ve all witnessed leaders and thought, “I could do a better job than that guy!” But no matter how much leadership talent you may have, it won’t do you any good if you’re sitting on the bench and never get offered one of those coveted leadership positions. This presentation provides a practical roadmap I have used to land leadership opportunities that fit me and my passions. You will walk out of this discussion with an outline of what you have to do now to get the shot you deserve.

Mike Ennis, Executive Pastor at Faith Community Fellowship

Dr. Keith Gurley, Associate Professor, Educational Leadership, UAB
